Dr Sarfaraz Baig is a Gastrosurgeon who operates out of Belle Vue Clinic and Calcutta Medical Research Institute in the city of Kolkata. His area of interests are gastrointestinal cancer surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatric (weight loss ) surgery. He is a co founder of BMI (Bariatrics and Metabolism Initiative) , a one stop shop for obesity in Belle Vue Clinic. He is accredited to have done laparoscopic removal of adrenal gland tumor in a 3 month old baby, a first such accomplishment in the world.
He is an author of 2 monographs-“ DISEASES OF CONMMON BILE DUCT” and “LIVER SURGERY”.
He has research papers on acute pancreatitis, gallbladder mucosa, pediatric colorectal cancers. He has delivered lectures at state and national levels on obesity surgery, management of pancreatitis, gallbladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery.
He has been the Joint Organizing Secretary of IAGES 2007 , IAGES 2008 and OSSICON (obesity conference) 2008, Hernia 2010, IASG 2011. His passion and commitment for providing state of the art health care is well known to his patients and friends.
